Auntyji Conversation

To those who may have read or scrolled down, might have seen my last post, where I expressed my views on the very partial views of the society these days. Since I was out of time last time, I did not add an interesting conversation I had with an auntyji. No more babbling. Moving to the conversation.

*NOTE- Pardon the Hindi words used between. I have just tried to keep it as authentic as possible.*

 Auntyji- Acha, beta, so you are done with 10th na. Abhi tho you are a big girl. *sly smile* Have you decided which coaching center you are going to. Rao ya Sinhal?

 Me- Actually, aunty, wo na.... I am...

Auntyji- *Interrupts me mid sentence*Engineering ke liye VIT ya NIT? See, VIT has good placement offers. Wo na, Pinkyji's eldest daughter, she is in VIT. She is a nice girl. she got a good job at Cognizant. VIT graduate hai. Her other daughter, Design or something. Stupid girl.. Haan so what about you beta? Sinhal has good classes and its nearby. *Looking at me for a response*

 Me- Aunty, I am actually not taking engineering. I was planning to..

 A- *Again cutting me mid sentence* Not engineering? * Looking dejected, and then regaining her posture* Medical hai? There are good offers. Lots of money. And if you can marry a male doctor, tho life bani *sly smile again* It takes five years but that's okay na? You get money.

M-  No aunty. Actually I am not interested in Medical either. I am not taking ScienceI was thinking about..

A- NOT SCIENCE? Arre, Vini *looking at my mother* what is wrong with this girl. Acha, I get it, she is following her brother's foodsteps na?Commerce? CA? Good options. Like I said, lots of money. *looks at my mother again* Both of them can work togther. You and your hubby's life is made. So much money. *laughs*

 M- CA? Nahi aunty, CA only my brother is doing. I was considering..

A- CS bhi h. Or you can follow you dad's footsteps and do banking. B.Com has okay chances these days. I mean, not like Science, but its okay na?

 M- Aunty. *I was beginning to lose my patience* I am not taking Commerce.

A- OH MY GOODNESS! THEN WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE? VINI? WHAT IS THIS? WHAT IS THIS GIRL GOING TO DO?

 M- Aunty, I am taking Arts. Psycology,  Fine Arts, English, History, Sociology. I am going to study it, because I like it. And maa and paa won't say anything about it.

By God's grace, it suddently dawned to the aunty that she had not prepared Maggie for her daughter. Or Perhaps because I had insulted her beyond what I think she had expected, she soon left the house.

 Thank God for that.
